Time Of Your Life

Lorraine, you are my first friend on this adventure. I will remember you. We shared a short piece of time, you and I.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR6uz_VTCUo

Another turning point a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time

[Chorus]
It's something unpredictable but in the end
It's right I hope you've had the time of your life

So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos and memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

Got A Line On You

Peeper is not lookin distraught to me. She doesn't look like she's been traumatized. She looks pretty content. I think she is faring very well on this new adventure.

Up and Down and Back Again

This song seems to go with these photos. Some of the lyrics are above the pictures.

These are some pictures of the beach that has eroded, what they did to try to decrease further erosion, and where we are now.

Come and rescue me
From in the water deep

Careful now don't lose your aim
The road ahead is clear again

I haven't found it yet

Click on this photo to read what is inscribed on the block of cement.
You drift away so slow
In the ebb and flow
So I landed on my feet
The steadiness is bittersweet
It feels the same when you're pushed
Out and away and into the crush

In all the hidden pleasures you find
what you're looking for
I hope that you remember that pride
Comes before a fall...

The Hurricane Surge Marker

So when you are retired, you find yourself walking around Florida, aimlessly floundering, with no particular place to go. Today, we found ourselves at the Hurricane Surge Marker!

It was easily identifiable, thanks to the Red Cross!
It got even more intriguing when we rounded the corner of the Surge Marker, to find another plate. You will have to click on the window below to enlarge the photo so you can read it.

Well now, we needed to add some context. So who was going to stand in front of the Surge Marker?!?

That Lived In Look

I wanted you to see how the inside looks most of the time now. We extended the couch out in the "L" shape, and also the Counter.

Dickens is sleeping in the Drivers' seat; Peeper is in the corner, behind the steering wheel, you can just catch a glimpse of her white/black fur.

Sites Around Town

Highway 98 hugs the coast, and riding the scooters on the edge of the Gulf is really really great. Now, if we could just get some sunshine!!

We had a Wind Advisory on Sunday, and that wind was tossing us all around crossing that bridge into Town!

There's our Coach, "Daisy".

This is our view when you stand at the back of our Coach and look toward the Ocean, which is right past those trees. That lawn is where you walk the dogs, so that's nearby also...great lot.

Our Coach is right past the silver car on the right side.

Fenced in Dog Playground on the right, bldg at the end is the Laundry facility.

The RV Park

Beach across the street.

This is the view from our park, of the Road (Rt. 98) and the patch of land on the other side, the beach and the Gulf.

Angry Beach

We started our walk with gray skies, and an angry Gulf, but by the time we were thru with our 3 miles, we had some blue sky.

Today, Tucker tried to cut the birds off at the chase...he had no luck, but I give him credit for trying!

These are Lorraine's two dogs. Tucker is looking out to sea...scheming.

Beaches and Scooters

Today, I took a walk with my next door RV neighbor. Her two dogs, and my Tucker and we headed across the street to the beach and the ocean. She told me that she found out yesterday, that as long as no one is sunbathing, it was ok to unleash your dog. And we did. Tucker was running like he never ran before. Soft sand was much easier than running thru the woods of New Hampshire...but the challenge of getting a bird was the same. Just different birds. Sandpipers. Sections of the beach had sand bars, you can go out 75 yards, and the water is only 5 inches deep. My new friend and I also saw Dolphins, 5 of them, about 25 yards off the beach. They were very close. We walked for 3 miles.

After I returned, Jim and I went into Carrabelle for lunch. A place I had seen on TripAdvisor. And it was correct. This restaurant was absolutely wonderful. Here is the link to the place:

I had the Groper and Jim had the Shrimp. After that we drove around for about an hour. We headed out of Town and back again. We went to another RV Park a couple miles down the road, called the Ho Hum RV Park. It was right on the ocean, as opposed to across the street. But it was a dirt/gravel park with nothing else. We don't think we would stay there.
We went last night to a 'Wine Tasting". You had to bring a bottle of wine and an appetizer. We met quite a few people. We stayed longer then everyone, and had to shut the lights down when we left.

Tonight we have a Tornado watch, at 10 pm. Hmmmm......

S. Carolina: New Green Acres RV Park

New Green Acres RV Park 396 Campground Road, Walterboro, SC 29488 Phone #: (843) 538-3450

We have gone about 7 hours today. We're in Walterboro, S. Carolina.
We like the park. Very dog friendly. A very large fenced in area, full of "props" for the dogs, ex,ramps, hoops, and hanging from a branch was a wire basket full of green tennis balls (Tuckers favorite)....a hose provides fresh water in a large container. A receptacle for their waste stands nearby for your convenience. Nicely treed and wide lots.
Grilled Tuna Melts, a shower in their facility, and homemade chocolate chip cookies round out the night. I boiled some water and washed the dishes, and wiped down the counters. That is the first time I have been able to do that. Back home, I had to wear gloves just to stock the compartments, it was so cold....tomorrow we will arrive at our campsite for the next two weeks. We will finally open all four slides and settle in. We will leave here at 7 am, and it's another 7 hours to Carrabelle Beach RV Resort.
