I could be wrong, but I think the shot labeled "very old home" was originally a one-room school house. Those are frequently purchased and turned into houses. Yes, I remember a lot of those stores. Yoder's Meat and Cheese is on the (south?) end of the main street [ 435 S Van Buren St. ] There's also an old fashioned drug store on one of the side streets, across from the train tracks (?) . . . I think that I took actual photos when I was there. That may have been the last real roll of film that I shot. I'll look in the morning. Things I like to eat in Amish Country: shoo-fly pie (very sweet, so you and Jim may want to split a piece), homemade pickles and relishes, homemade ice cream, breakfast (some places serve fresh eggs!), meat pies (may be more of a winter thing), and homemade soups. I avoid: pork chops (they tend to be really fatty in Amish Country), Asian fusion (Yes, you may see that -- Germans can't cook Asian!), and be careful of "olde Time" beverages, like raspberry shrub or homemade soda pop in restaurants. If they are sealed in bottles, they are probably okay. Some of the "olde time" drinks really don't keep that well and can cause a fairly bad stomach ache. Don't ask me how I know that. Have fun!
