Crazy Horse

  • Sculptor: Korczak Ziolkowski, born in Boston, orphaned at age one. He grew up in foster homes. Completely self-taught. Never took a formal art, sculpture, architecture or engineering lesson.
  • Work at the mountain started in 1948, when Ziolkowski was 40 years old.
